Explore learning about the Sun using solar print paper with the included plastic insect toys or any other object by following the enclosed directions. When print is drying read Sun and then decorate the wood frame with the foam stickers. Finally watercolor the negative spaces of the images before inserting it in the keepsake frame.
DIY Sci Sun Kit is an at-home educational activity kit created by Philanthrolab Science Shop LLC. Included in this kit is 4" x 4" solar print paper (2), plastic insect toys (3), small plastic plate, watercolors and paintbrush, a wood frame, insect foam stickers and a children's science book titled Sun.
This activity supports Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math: S: Learn about the Sun and Solar energy by using the solar print paper and reading the book Sun. T: Take pictures or video and share them to #diyscishop E: Using the other sun print paper change an experiment variable and compare your results. (ie: Hold one sheet of solar print paper out in direct sunlight longer or when developing paper in water add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide and compare to the paper using water only.) A: Decorate the wood frame with insect foam stickers and watercolor the negative space of each image. M: Count Foam Stickers and sort insect toys by number of legs, winged/non-winged, and color. Come up with a number sentence to match.
